Does Cvs Sell Halloween Cosgtumes

prices irritants e-books at amazon.com for Europe

Did you know that an e-book on Amazon.com, if you reside in the U.S. it costs $ 3, if you reside in the European Union comes out you $ 5.75, almost double?

Did you know that the author of the book, get 70% of the sale to U.S. residents, but only 35% of the book sold to the resident in Europe? Did you know that 35% is also applied to the original price of $ 3, not the increase of $ 5.75?

Did you know that Amazon sells some e-books above the price of the printed version and not just with books from other publishers that can pinch, but edited by Amazon itself (AmazonCrossing)? Did you know that at least one of those books published by Amazon, Amazon publishes original version and translated into English, is more expensive to print in the original language that the English translation? At least the e-book is worth the same ...

There is a part of the situations I describe is not Amazon's fault, but ones nuesros European bureaucrats, who for some strange reason normalize the physical format books have reduced VAT, but in electronic format if it is not in support physical, service and takes it as the standard VAT rate. This is an increase of 15%, because, fortunately, Amazon does not apply the 18% of Spain, but 15% of Luxembourg. Okay, okay. What about the other $ 2.30?

The other $ 2.30 (presumably that $ 2 + tax) has all the earmarks that are the fault of Amazon's invention, called Whispernet. So call distribution across your network. If you buy the Kindle 3G (like yours truly) you can download the books instead of 3G access, from any country and the same journals to which you subscribed. Also you can access the Amazon site and wikipedia (but only the English version.) Amazon does not charge anything by way of 3G (even when you download a free book or a sample chapter), is assumed to have reached agreement with the operators and pays for that bill sale (In U.S. sales to 70% of royalties, Amazon actually deducted by a small amount for Whispernet depending on the size of the book, but half say they are about $ 0.10, not 2 $ that increases here).

surreal thing is that as included in the price, if you have the wireless version or download it from your PC, you do not care who is not going to be cheaper. Look gentlemen, I have the 3G version, but I prefer to be charged for each book that 3G unloading a surcharge to do strange things.

Where I gather all this? because of Amazon's own website, which has a bug for some time that not correct. It normally take out price lists and adapted to your area, but sometimes when I log on the cover I find that I get a couple of lists of books, one reads "Inspired by your wishlist" and the other is "Limited Time offers", where is normal to find not only books but especially at very low free books. In both cases is below the price of each book, but it happens when you click on the link to buy the book, I leave the card with the price changed, with the tagline usual "includes VAT & free international wireless delivery via Amazon Whispernet. "In all the books that appeared to be free, leaving the tab $ 2.30, while the other is exactly the original price with a 15% increase over the $ 2.30. Then simply enter amazon.com unused user account, to let you change your area and compare between the U.S. and Europe: the price difference always corresponds to the formula (precio_en_usa +2 $) * 1.15.

're at it, a small sample for those who think that posting on Amazon because at least you're out of the way to the publisher and the distributor wanted a paste. Take a book of $ 7.81 (usually less than a paperback edition). The price excluding taxes and Whispernet would be $ 4.49 (real example is a book of short stories by García Márquez).
  • $ 2 to Amazon Whispernet concept, even without 3G
  • $ 0.9735 for the Treasury in VAT (I guess the Luxembourg). In other words, 15% +2
  • 4.49 $ 3.1135 more to Amazon, for its 65% of 4.49
  • $ 1.5715 to the author or publisher who has published the book, they receive in fact, after 60 days, $ 1.10, as the U.S. Treasury 30% discount (I guess that will not have to Parga as income tax). Come on, that to have mileurista salary, no social security or bonuses, of course assuming that you edit, revise, edit and promote the book, because to get into more spending on top, you have to sell 1000 books per month.
Truth "to be eliminated intermediaries ? Apart from reforming the VAT issue and e-books ...
