I do not think that is the best writer of the twentieth century in English, although it is undoubtedly the best and personally, is the most value. But in any case some of his books are among the highest rated many readers and that has much merit because they are quality books at all resort to the formulas of success stories and betsellers as raunchy, gruesome treatments . One reads "The Heretic" and indeed has nothing to do with any book that comes into the picture the Inquisition. One of the books of Delibes, "the way", I could see that even people like that usually do not read, a person once told me that he did not like reading, but that he liked the book itself. Almost any who knows the rural world appreciates this book.
I loved "Lady in red on a gray background," a book that excites Delibes show that was broken with the death of his wife, Angela de Castro in 1974 (the book is from 1991): it is memorable (and significant Delibes pessimism) his sentence "a woman, whose very presence lightened the heaviness of life." Also I find it very interesting to read "Diary of a retired", the sequel to "Diary of a hunter", which does not hurt to Delibes pledge to cane his character, to embody an old voluptuous rather than take the widow with dignity as he ;-). Not all books seem remarkable Delibes' Parabola the castaway is a literary experiment infumable, where every time there is a point or a comma is written with letters.
In Delibes as a person is well known for its generous attitude to literary awards like the Metro which attracts many with its economic strength: felt that the awards were to raise awareness and could start new writers and therefore an established writer should depart from them.
Finally, the promised story about the high consistency Delibes. One year I took the bonus of Seminci and was in the first screening of "idiots" by Lars Von Trier. Well, I was also watching the movie Miguel Delibes, a who liked the movie, several of his books have been brought to the big screen movies and also wrote the adaptation of the dialogues into English of the well known and great movie "Doctor Zhivago" (which incidentally was filmed mostly in Spain) . Well, while Lars Von Trier is a great director and has done great, "idiots" is not one of them but a sign of his other face, which is that sometimes it is totally the clip. The movie is of dubious taste which the protagonists are engaged in pretend to be mentally retarded annoying and do not need a scene to finish descolocarte porn (and porn is porn, porn, not erotica or sex scene sham). Well, at one point that should satiate Miguel Delibes, got up and calmly left the cinema, Seminci headquarters, across the aisle.
A lot of people would think pijada, but I do not because the truth is that during the movie I was tempted to do the same but I was embarrassed. However in Delibes, person swilling, cultural reference, which would have invited a place of honor and no doubt had good relations with management of the Seminci, instead of hiding behind the reasons to avoid giving the song chosen to be consistent.
